G. Gary McNeely Q.C., Lawyer

Gary McNeely attended Queen’s University in Kingston for his undergraduate studies, later graduating in both English and History. He obtained his law degree in 1964. Upon graduating from Queens, he articled with the Toronto law firm of Tilley, Carson, Barristers & Solicitors. After serving his articles and being called to the bar in 1966, he joined the law firm of Wahn, Mayer, Smith in Toronto. He later moved to the Peterborough area to join Dunn, McCarney Barristers & Solicitors.


While in Peterborough, he received his Q.C. in 1971. He was Chairman of the Troubled Child Conference Peterborough for two years, Chairman of the Hard of Hearing Association for four years, Chairman of the Board of the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra for two years and President of the Peterborough Progressive Conservative Association for several years. He has taught various law courses at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough.


Gary McNeely has been on the board of directors and subsequently Vice President of the Criminal Lawyers Association in Toronto for 10 years. He also served as Vice President for the Progressive Conservative Association of Ontario and Policy Co-Chairman for Ontario for two years.


In 1982, he moved his law practice from Peterborough to Oshawa to focus on criminal law. Mr. McNeely has completed numerous serious criminal cases, including many murder cases.
